Shepherd Moons







You with your eyes that study me,

read me only to receive a scrambled signal.

Static on an old television screen.

The beginning of the “Big Bang” or so they say.



There is no sense here.

There is no logic.



You watch.

You look but I am out of focus.

I am “away.”



A moment of time in repetition.



You keep stillborn puppies in a glass jar

yet I am the one on medication.

But is that not what makes you notice?



I notice you.

You with your top shirt buttons undone.

You showing your gold necklace

and I have never wanted you so badly.



I want to come up behind you.

I want to wrap my arms around your waist and kiss your neck.

You with your eyes closed,

head back,

mouth slightly open.



And you will feel me.

That will be the real “Big Bang.”



But to you I am like that static.

Something you can just turn off.

No remote on this one though

so you will have to get off that sexy ass

and won't we have a nice view?



I am “away.”

And I am going to continue to drift

further and further away with time.



Mine is like shepherd moons

and I hear that static

and I know I am being pulled apart.

You look and you watch.

You study.

But you will not let me be.
