The Gift Of Elden Romance ...
The easiest place to find magic, At first blush it must be, The eyes of a child in amazement, A playground filled with novelty and make-believe.
We all roam those places in our hearts, The watercolors of young memories, Aglow with the magic we can no longer touch.
The faces and voices of those gone on rendered as late-evening cameo, Misty, Wisty, Haven inside.
The thunder of clocks and cash eats our lives all grown, The places we once knew barren as twig sticks and Winter trees, For the leaves that fell after Autumn were the magic of them, They are the real-life skeletons of bygone days, The bones of the treasures inside us.
Yet I wonder, When Autumn turns to early Winter in our own weave, The strings of clocks and gold stretched and frayed, Might we catch again whispers of magic, These stories of elden romance we hold, In the old sense, The true sense, Maybe waiting for us to paint-fill a willing open eye, Or softly pen it to poetry, If only an ear will hear, The gift of elden romance.

Very well written Dan I beleive these elden memories can be new ones when one looks at the world through the eyes and wonder of their inner child. As the seasons pass here, I find new wonder in every season as they pass. Of course there is the cold of winter, but the intricate formation of a single snowflake as it gently floats down to earth can be breathtaking, or when a plant first breaks the ground in early Spring full of promise of things to come. Summer is full of butterflies and beautiful flowers while Autumn provides us with a brilliantly coloured landscape...Yes, those elden memories are no longer elden, but given freshly new.

Thank you, Cat. I agree, the older I get, the more magic I see in small things.

Dan, I love seeing your writing again and with such artfully crafted and nostalgic imagery and reflection that brings the seasonal memories alive. Indeed this time of year those wistful memories surface though in fleeting glances at what once was. Love what you have painted here for the child in our hearts that lives on in the procession of years.

Thank you, John. I think that child stays with us all until the end.

Love this Dan Brings back the memories and these comments hit it just right too. Not much more I can add to them as I am getting to this late. Wonderfully penned though my friend And yes, seeing the magic in the small things that so many let go unnoticed. Sometimes though, living with my older brother and our life-long friend and "brother" in every sense of the world we get to talking about when we were all in our teenage years and the fun we would have and there is magic in us all just talking and reminiscing about those days. It's so tempting, even at our ages to go play "guns" or when we used to buy these Star Wars swords or whatever, light saber toys that glowed and even made that hummingbird like sound when we would swing them play fighting. It's TEMPTING to go play again man! We'd probably wear out and get tired after ten minutes though lol..Endless energy playing back then though As your awesome poem tributes, "Those were the days!" Love it. And yes, we can still find that magic today too in other ways. Hell with it, Let's all get together and play Cowboys and Indians or something I'll start planning it lol

Thank you. Dan
