For One Night
I miss holding you near.
Whispering “I love you” in your ear
as we lie cuddling in bed.
Now my mind replays it all in red.
I miss our talks and reminisce
the taste of your delicious kiss.
Having my arms around your waist.
My arms which you have since replaced.
Why is it that I miss?
I only miss the times of bliss.
When what we shared could not go wrong
only to do so before long.
I miss your laughter and smile.
Tickling each other for awhile.
Making sweet love into the night.
For a while did we not have it right?
What I miss most is holding you.
I wonder sometimes if you think back too.
Perhaps tonight they will play our song.
“Always” by Atlantic Starr
“With two r's!” you would always say
back in the days when we could never go wrong.

Michael, this wistful and nostalgic poem of love once upon a time really struck a chord with me tonight. It could fit the emotions of a troubadour singing of the woman whose bed he once shared. You articulated your emotions making every line count. That takes real talent.

Thanks John. Just looking back and reminiscing. It was her choice. She had the affair, etc. Long, long story.
