Inconsequential
Like hands interlocking pieces,
building that frame
for that is always how to start.
Fit each piece together.
Create that picture only to find
one annoying, missing piece
which makes the whole damn thing inconsequential.
Like time.
Humanity's schedule
to keep control though nothing is in control
despite our distorted view.
Time is inconsequential.
That broken plate.
That shattered glass.
Like last night's
piece of ass.
In that picture you are working on.
It is all inconsequential.
We are puppets on strings
dancing, claiming to call the shots.
Hands working diligently to build
our future when in the end all of it
will be inconsequential.

Yes, but the moments you get along the way are worth it. The end is the end.

Michael, this is much more than an ordinary poem but rather a deeply profound contemplation of the human experience. You delved into the heart of what it means to be human with the perfect illustration through that grand puppet metaphor. Fine work as I have come to expect from you.
