Lucky Star
This night so cold.
My breath I see.
I hurry to see you.
Soft crunching sound
of this week's snow.
The hill is now in view.
I have to break.
I have got to rest
then I will climb all the way
and when I do
I will send my wish
to you, my star, I pray.
Back on my way
I see you now.
I will soon be at the top!
Now here I am
seeing you shine
so close makes my heart stop!
It is true!
They said wish from up here,
you are closer to your star.
So close though still
so far away.
Your beauty is never far.
I cannot wait!
I wish my wish
and send it out to you!
It is happening!
Your colors change!
My wish is coming true!
What now I hear?
A sonic “BOOM!”
explodes throughout the night sky!
You change once more
then blow apart.
My lucky star, good-bye.

Michael this is an explosive view into how the dreams of a life can blow apart leaving desolation. You put it into poetry that amazes me. You are the master of surprise endings, my friend.
