The Prize
And now at last you have come to see it.
You have made it all this way.
It has taken years to get here.
You are anxious of this day.
It sits behind these curtains
from which it plays this crazy game
except each game has consequences
which never are the same.
You part the curtains to expose it.
You are taken back with shock.
Your own reflection is before you
yet your eyes they cannot lock.
It is you but it is not you
who will not look in your eyes.
Perhaps someday you will understand
the meaning of the prize.
