Dream of a Peanut Farmer
Potted fern in the midst of copper light
Of living room where he sits reading the paper
While his heart is a grandfather clock
Whose pendulum rocks with each breath
Jimmy sighs like a retired construction worker
Who once sat in an oval office
But found peace in his golden years
Building habitats for beleaguered humanity
With a bandana for the fires of summer
Rosalynn shows us the guest room
Where my wife speaks:
“Do you watch him every minute?”
First lady of the heavenly blue light:
“Marsha, I truly don’t want him to die.”
And the universe spreads out like blown glass
With dawn light on the verge of tears
That find solace in the porch of morning
Where all sorrows must go
When the clock strikes midnight

I have always felt he was a much better president than he has been given credit for. Nice too Marsha was in this dream as a spiritual guide. It's a great poem and read my friend.
