The Next decade
Standing before the horizon
awaiting dawn to switch on the light
to a promising decade.
I’ll ease loving footsteps
into the soil and fertilise a path
so that when walking gets tough,
I’ll find the strength to keep going.
Each stroll reminding me of this day,
of a promise to find a way
to step out barefoot smiling.
