Is it ethical for a woman to carry someone else’s child?
What should the children’s rights be in the case of surrogate pregnancy? The surrogate mother's?
Should surrogates be used for any reason or only for health reasons?
Should there be regulations on international surrogacy?

#1. I think that is one of the most selfless and loving things a woman can do for a childless couple.
#2. The surrogate mother should have NO rights. She gave that up when she agreed to the arrangement, and there should be a contract stating the facts. The child should have the same rights as an adopted child, upon reaching the age of maturity. They may have a need to know what is in their health background.
#3. If it's legal, why complicate it with restrictions? I don't think anyone is more capable of making such decisions than the people involved.
#4. I guess if it were international, some regulation would be required.

Thanks. That's how I feel, Cat. It's not my business if it is not hurting someone else. If it is an act to bring lifetime happiness to someone else, I have no right to object.
If a gay couple wishes to have a child through the use of surrogacy, why not? If some friend is willing to do this for them, it would be wonderful. I know some gay men who love kids. One of them would not surprise me at all, if he, one day, adopted a child. It has nothing to do with health. It simply has to do with people.

There is a TV show called Modern Family with a gay couple who did just that - not only once, but twice, but from adoption agencies.
