My Answer to a Guy Friend on Abortion
“Are you sure about this? I’ve heard some pretty scary stories along those lines. I am just not so sure about the coat hanger thing.”
“You worry too much, Diane. I’ve told you that a million times. Just trust me. I got these instructions off the internet. They are foolproof. Just do as they say. You’ll be ok. Look at me. Have I ever lied to you?”
“No Shari, you’ve always told me the truth.”
“You see, Texas is crazy. That means we have to outfox the stupid laws that come between a woman and her rights.”
After school Diane’s mother comes home and the TV is off. Not a peep from her daughter. Then she opens the door to the bathroom. Her precious daughter is lying dead in a pool of blood.
The Mom says, “Oh No, No, No, please God No!!!” She wails and weeps with the fury of a Mom who lost her only daughter. Then she gathers her wits just enough to call the ambulance. But there is no sign of life in her precious’ eyes. The paramedics arrive but nothing can be done. The mother just saw her baby perish because lawmakers saw fit to take her life. The Mom’s grief is beyond the imagination.
