A Melody Lost in Time
“I hear your flute playing,” she says.
“The melody is for you. It is a little new age and jazz fusion to lessen our confusion.”
“Can music wash away the pain of loss?”
“No it heals the sorrow so that the love carries on without the hurt.”
She says, “Damn you are talking real love now not the sand castle kind washed away with high tide.”
I reply, “What sort of affection would you have me bestow upon you?”
She says, “Only a large lollipop that takes forever to lick into infinity.”
I reply, “Given the prospect of time in a quantum universe maybe a pi candy that leads where nothing else has taken us would be best.”
She says, “Will you take my arm so that you can lead me into the cotton candy stars?”
I reply, “The Galactic halo holds plenty of sweets that we are worthy to taste.”
She says, “Are we really worthy? Or just in the right place at the right time?”
“Either way let’s give it a whirl. There are enough stars out there to wish upon for all the lovers in the cosmos.”
