Prologue
Out of the tragedy of immolation Shiva’s wife, Sati, was reincarnated under the name Parvati. They abided for centuries in the palace of Angkor Wat under the ever protective eyes of Brahma. Their marriage flourished where they swam with goldfish in lakes made of stone. Their history was sculpted out of sandstone to remind them of their origins among the Gods and Goddesses. Scenes from the sacred texts followed them in their walks past the temples. Then the looters came and desecrated their home. Out of sorrow deeper than any mortal could know they migrated into new bodies and spheres of being. There began their journeys across the globe to new and strange places. On one such voyage they found a living community in the desert where lay lines converged and they were welcomed to a lost American castle in the sky.
Epilogue
Upon being redeified, Shiva was deep in meditation on top of Mount Mandara. Parvati was in a kittenish mood and covered Shiva’s eyes with her hands. This webbed the entire universe in shadows. Parvati released Shiva’s eyes and the river of bad dreams changed course with the reawakening of the stars to their former splendor. Shiva was more than mildly perturbed with her. Shiva gave chase to Parvati around the mountain summit and playfully swatted her bottom. She giggled the entire time until they were out of breath and Shiva carried her down the peak to a fate more beautiful than that of myth. They celebrated with a round of soma imported from the moon. Parvati promised never to veil Shiva’s eyes again. Shiva told her that such darkness if prolonged would bring a global ice age to the planets and make sentient life extinct across the cosmos. Instead, when starving for attention, Parvati stared into his eyes to bring him out of trance state and into an amorous mood. This pleased them both and connubial bliss was theirs for the taking.
