Your Tear
My eyes,
see you as before.
Not as you are anymore.
You are solid and you are real.
Our hands may touch that we may feel.
In so doing maybe we may even heal.
Your tear,
sliding down your face.
I smile, you smile, both out of place. Out of time.
Where did it go?
All of this so long ago.
O blast! Must this pain be all we are to know?
Each night,
I sit with tea
in hope you shall appear
though it is all the same.
We live the past.
We play this game.
At least ours is this little while
where we may touch, reflect, reconcile.
If only in a time of repetition.
Time soon,
shall bring the hour.
I sit.
I await here!
Never shall I cower.
Each time I fear you may not show
though history shows you to be so.
Soon from that room you will appear
illuminated by the moon!
Your tear,
I wish to wipe away
each and every time!
To tell you that I am okay.
I wipe though it shall be once more.
O my sweet I shall always adore.
Come to me now
as it is now our time.
Yours is a voice now passed.
Whisper in my mind.
Bring the white light of oblivion
that it may surround me.
That I may welcome with closed lids.

This is powerfully emotional, Mike; I especially like your closing stanza.

Michael the grief is born through your memories like a person long gone whom you carry into the present. Such deeply felt emotions are communicated with soaring beautiful poetry. Truly a mourning poem for the ages.

thanks to you both. Well, what I am trying to do with this is write about a residual haunting situation, the spirit being the woman in it. Something like that anyway. I just kind of went with it. Glad you both enjoyed.

It is sadly beautiful, Michael, and so emotionally charged.

Michael, I just reread this. You carry the feeling with the finesse of a poet who knows his emotional landscape. The sadness here is strong and evoked beautifully in its desolation. Truly a masterpiece of breakup and finality.

Missing people who are gone is one of the greatest burdens we will bear in this life. Beautiful and haunting.
