Little Wren~
Sweet child Lawrenda, which is your given name, just "Wren" is what you're accustomed to. Why do I picture you as the 'little match girl'.. a shy tiny bird with wings I feel could break at any moment, extra strokes you need, your song is silent, yet strains to be heard, hints of its tune seen through timid smiles, eyes that speak of dreams, and a thousand fairytale miles.
I've taken your wings under mine to preen the best that I can, throwing favoritism comments to the gusty north wind, for your flight could be the most graceful of all, you're bright as the cardinal against winter snows, lungs filled with songs only little wrens know.

such a lovely poem Sky. You know, my mother always told me that the wren's song was the sweetest of all birds. And you know what? I agree with her. As you say, such a shy, tiny, bird, but oh, what a song

Hey Sky, The wren is our state bird so I was happy to see your title She sounds like an extraordinarily special girl ... this is my favorite part of your wonderful poem: "your song is silent, yet strains to be heard, hints of its tune seen through timid smiles, eyes that speak of dreams, and a thousand fairytale miles." (((hugs)))

Your poem hits the spot this morning... reminding me of these wonderful little birds. They nest nearby each year and I can see them from my kitchen window most mornings while enjoying my coffee
