1977
Hometown at night Her bottom is sunk into the leather upholstery Of my 1977 corvette With Supertramp on the eight-track While we plow through the darkness Looking for an icebreaker As an Arctic Front frosts the windows She smiles as we slide into position To park-like teenagers On the funky side of town But we dream California While Mississippi mud sticks to our shoes And the heater blows like the Santa Ana Winds

Hmmmm....Supertramp? Had to look it up. The band's name at the time it was established was Daddy and was similar to another band named Daddy Longlegs. In order to eliminate confusion, they changed their name to Supertramp, which was based on an autobiography from poet W.H. Davies titled The Autobiography of a Supertramp. The band was officially born.Jan 10, 2017

They started back in the seventies when I was a wee lad. Breakfast in America is my favorite of their albums. Love the cover art on it as well as the great music.

I still have ‘Breakfast in America’ on CD from the 80s... they played here in London at Western University in the late 70s... loud enough to be heard all over the city

Huge thanks Sky. This poem was about the late teenage life I wish I'd had. Instead I was a hermit. Ah if I had it to do over again.
eezebard love your account of their concert in London. It sounds like it was a mega blast. Breakfast in America is one of my all-time favorites from the seventies.
