Nature's Music
Sitting around the fire
telling stories into night;
singing songs and sharing laughter,
everything just feels all right.
Roasting the marshmallows,
being with the ones you love.
There is nothing like the nighttime sky,
so many stars above.
As some stumble off to sleep
let yourself rise from by the fire;
hear the pops and snaps of the wood
beginning to expire.
Walk to the water's edge
as if almost without choice;
the crickets and frogs call to you,
hypnotic is their voice.
Somewhere in the darkness
a fish jumps into the air,
splashing back into the water,
nature's music takes you there.
Nature's music brings a smile
so I send her song to you
my dear friend for every smile,
every loving thing you do.

Sounds like the perfect summer night!
You have inspired me Michael. I think I will have at least one of those nights right here at home - I even have bass in the pond so a fish is likely to jump, and then I will have your poem in real life.

Michael, this took me back decades. There is nothing more spiritually renewing that a campout by the water. Nothing can compare to the sounds and scents of the forest. You have captured them with enchanting beauty.
