Hello Darkness My Old Friend...
It seems you're here to dance with us again, Daylight savings had to end, Early to work and leaving late, Toil in hours of night seem my fate.
Fuzzy-headed is just how I roll, A world of shadow with coffee in tow, Though stars and Moon seem often bright, Can't outshine the pollution of city lights.
Hours of silence and my friends have given up, Darkness over leisure fills my cup, Awake all night as others sleep, My night of thoughts roam darknes deep.

Uh Oh! Sounds like someone is suffering a bit of insomnia. Not good, but makes for a great poem. I do love the poem QF, thank you. Not insomnia. I'm a natural night owl, and I hate it when it gets dark early. My peak "on" hours are 1pm to 9pm. When it gets dark at 5pm it makes the later part of that more difficult, especially when I have to work indoors during the few daylight hours. Morning people love Standard Time, but most night owls hate it and prefer DST. Dan

i like it i really do
susan
i'm hoping that in a couple of years they'll do away with going back an hour in november, and just keep the same time
so we'll get a couple more hours of light during the winter......instead
i know i hate it getting dark at 5, in a couple of weeks, and lasting basically until the middle of january...and then it being dark in the morning until around 7-8 am

Excellent poem Dan. Love your viewpoint and as I read, I could hear the music. Cat, thank you. I have been singing the first few lines of that song under my breath at work every time I walk past the front lobby doors after 5pm. Dan

Lakin-Thomas said her research at York University’s “Clocklab” — which studies the biological clocks in animals — has shown that Standard Time, when clocks are reversed one hour from November until March, is much healthier for humans.
and that part there is what makes me afraid...that we won't stick to daylight savings time

“In the winter, if we go on Daylight Saving Time year-round — we’re going to be getting up in the dark in the winter for several hours, it’s going to be several hours before the sun comes up,” said Lakin-Thomas.
see this is what i totally do not get......it's that way anyway....so

so that reasoning makes no sense at all
like here by the end of the month it will be totally dark by five...if they kept the clocks at daylight savings time, it would be 6, instead of five...so that way we get more night-time darkness, and i think later in the morning too..
so if you ask me these researches are on crack, lol

Dan, We don't have Daylight Time Saving in the mountains. Body clock does not change whether one manually declare the day extended or curtailed - that is what I believe. "Fuzzy-headed is just how I roll, A world of shadow with coffee in tow, Though stars and Moon seem often bright, Can't outshine the pollution of city lights." I liked that. Namaste. - Dip

It's an adjustment for sure. I'm a night owl too but also an insomniac...come on over if you're still kickin' around in the late/early hours....

Some nights, but most of them I have to work in the morning. One of the things I like about being up late is that I can get things done, but music isn't one of them. My musical ability, such as it is, fades as I get sleepy. It's a great time for poetry, however. Thank you, Michael. Dam

I'm most active during the evening time too. Love it when the light lingers later. Your poem took this reality and made it come alive lyrically in poetic form. The versatility of your pen never ceases to amaze me, my friend.
