Deepening Autumn
our landscape's changing trees cry at summer's passing colourful teardrops blown by the cooling breezes bare branches come revealed
thanks will be given for all good things that we have special gathering the turkey holds to his hope the pig will be in the stove
birds honk out alerts southbound paths again they take as costumes are planned for a ghostly bewitched night jack-o-lanterns flickering
then comes poppy's day last of leaf tears are falling in deep memory Flanders Field is recited as the cool turns into chill
late bloomers now sleep barren trees also take rest evading white frost as the last autumn rain falls crystallizing into flakes

Thank you Cat and Rick.
I'll have to show some old writes until I get sparked to do new ones.

Brian, this is an emotional and aesthetic autumnal poem of truly gorgeous imagery which resonates with my soul. This has to be my all-time favorite of yours among all your fantastic poetry. Your use of Flander's Fields was done excellently and gave it an even more powerful resonance. Bravissimo, my friend.
