Carousel
I watched the carousel
go 'round and 'round.
The children's cries
the only sound.
The parents watched with smiles
like hungry wolves.
At first the children cried happy cries
but they soon caught on to the lies,
slowly thinning, becoming scarcely
flesh and bone
much like the ride operator
sitting all alone.
The carousel stopped, more kids got on.
The previous riders cried off to the side
as the parents laughed and asked
what else did they want to ride?
A twinkle could be seen within their eyes.
“Go back to the carousel!” I heard in my head.
After all, one more ride and they would all be dead.
Just one more ride will bring forth hell
and the children's bones will fall
into a pile before your eyes!
THAT is the prize that is offered here.
No fuzzy stuffed animals will appear.
Just your little darling slowly being drained of life
on the carousel we all play a part!
Listen as the music cuts the night
once more like a bloody knife
and hear the cries deep in the recesses of your mind!
