Nepal's history is closely woven with legends and curses
which got a fresh lease of credulity when the deposed King's attempt to rule the country with the support of the army
led to the eventual abolition of monarchy in 2008.
Having been deposed the ex-king is now breaking the taboos
by visiting a temple not far from Kathmandu.
Legend has it that the Shah Kings of Nepal
claimed to be incarnations of a Hindu God were forbidden to visit the temple.
When asked why did he break the custom
he said that he is a commoner now and no more the incarnation of the Hindu God
legends die with the change of temporal power!

Perhaps this is a legend that needed to die; good for the haughty former king to call himself a commoner now! A very interesting Nepal history lesson, Dip
