Curves

We all face curves in life.
We drive and we strive,
never really knowing what lies ahead
to the right or to the left.
We try our best to simply follow the road
whichever direction it decides to take us.

Sometimes we find we reach our intended destination.
Everything seems to just fall into place.
We chose the right path and we made good time.
We could have gone the other way.
Perhaps they all meet somewhere in the middle.

Still, other times we run into construction along the way.
Detours lead us to one-way streets.
Roads are closed ahead.
Traffic jams.
This time the road we chose was the wrong way.

But it is okay for eventually we find our way again.
The drive is once more clear and smooth.
We know which on ramps to take and off ones as well.
Once more we are in control or so we like to think.

Those curves lead us on ahead, twisting and turning.
Sometimes we know which ones to take.
Sometimes we do not.
At times we have to guess.
We have to take that chance.
Where we are going may eventually come together.
Perhaps it will not.
Follow the left or follow the right.
Either way will lead us to our destination.
