I watched,
standing on the little hill as night slowly began turning to day,
the magnificent colors appearing on the horizon.
One by one the stars began punching their time clocks,
disappearing from view, their shifts now being over.
For a moment all was quiet. Still.
Only the wind whispered into my ear,
"It's about to begin.....,"
as it went by.
The horizon brightened a little more,
pinkish-purple and then,
"WHAM!"
A loud and sudden sound!
I felt the ground quiver underneath my feet!
A yellowish-orange arm suddenly appeared and a massive, yellow hand
grabbed hold of the now bluish edge of the horizon, then
"WHAM!"
Another hand and arm!
The sun slowly pulled itself up over the edge.
A large, magnificent face blazed with rays streaking out forever.
It looked tired but happy.
Its eyes rolled around as it looked around with a yawn.
Birds were coming around, chirping and flying here and there.
I watched in awe with my mouth open, frozen, holding my cup of coffee.
Suddenly the great eyes locked on me!
"Good morning!" the sun said. "You're up early!"
"Good morning," I managed to reply.
Things really haven't been the same ever since.
