we will drive there's a bay at the end.
down mahongay road past the old oak tree look out for the sign there's a fork in the way which way to turn close your eyesmaybe we can smell the bay
down mahogany road it's an extra quiet ride with you by my side a gem of a day as we get closer to the bay
down mahogany road it's naturally smooth as we coast and the sun traces our path.
look there's the bay i can see it now all sparking like drops of pearls i can't wait to take a dip
down mahogany road there by the golden point we'll put our blanket down and enjoy this place, as we layd in the sun... at the bay

Love this pleasant escape I'll be sure to bring a picnic basket This has me reflect also on some outdoor concerts I would go to around the 4th of July...miss 'em Being outside on a blanket...listening to some jazz or whatever may be going on at the time.

Reminds me of the long Sunday drives Mom and Dad used to take us on as children. Us kids loved those long and entertaining rides. Great writing, Susan.

we never went on them
well it was kind of a long ride to the cottage, but we didn't go for just the day
now my sister lives in the cottage, haven't been there for a few years now, mom's just not up to it
thank you

Oh, this took me back decades to Maine and the bay I swam in as a teenager. You have a way of really taking me along both geographically and emotionally into an idyllic day in the summer I once knew. Truly a trip into the heart of nostalgia my friend. I loved this priceless journey.
