Quiet afternoon soft and gentle sunlight filtering through the pine trees swaying with the cool breeze.
I am remembering the house built a 100 years back filled with memories of
powerful men and gracious women; fateful political decisions; deliberations on arts and music; philosophy and religion;
some rouge's raucous laughter women walking in and out.
The pine trees in the past witnessed these all; but they are gone, like the powerful men the gracious women.
Yet memories flood into the mind of the last living soul of the long line of politicians, musicians, artists and some rogues.
The wooden floor creaks to break the reverie.
I watch the lengthening shadow of the Rhododendron tree across the green lawn.
And realise that the mountains outlast all.

Native Americans say nothing lasts forever except the earth and sky. Your poem resounded with this philosophy with imagery which took me deep into the heart of nature.
