By morning the rain was falling
much like daggers through the air.
I pushed ahead past bodies,
mortal statues everywhere....
The weight of death.
The smell of smoke.
Time I would face this fear.
There was now no turning back,
at any moment she would appear.
A rattle!
Or was it in my head?
Do not look her in the eye!
Boy! You better put your shield up
or kiss your ass goodbye!
