Juncture
Clam chowder bubbles I stand witness to my own sustenance The murky broth in a jet-black pot Mind lens reviews microfiche Old news read in holy silence Passage through juncture Felt in the chilly kitchen My turgid heart pumps like sacred spring Lofting pot in an aerial journey As my hands grow feeble Old age taking hold in desolate vision Former mate an overexposed negative Dimming into past Diabetic limbs flail Like an actor in a play mimicking epilepsy My own character Alone on the stage with no audience To boo the self-conscious man Awful quietude Masked in murmuring my voice wavers Solicitous words annunciated In syllabic desire

But you are not alone and not old news though it may feel like a demise it can also be a rebirth. I'll have to come back to this but it is good...my take on it anyway. I'll have to reread tomorrow.

You unleashed most vivid imagery in this supremely dark poem, John; there is always hope as your title implies ... profound introspection.

Could see the clam-chowder fly along with the self incrimination.

Very deep, John, stewing, and bubbling is the clam chowder in the cast iron pot like a witches brew, but instead is the image running through the mind of the poet. Know that you are not alone.

Michael, you are quite right that I am not alone. This was written a couple of years after my divorce. However, some of these feelings resurfaced after my former wife's recent passing.
Rick, indeed this was an introspective poem. Back then the emotions were running wild. Thank you for your hopeful words my friend.
Sky, I love your take on this poem. " self-incrimination" "meaty writing". I am very grateful for the depth of your reading. I thank you as a poet and friend.
Foxy, I adore your comparison of the pot of chowder to a witches brew. Indeed it was a dark time. And to lose her as I did again so recently brings back some of the darkness. Yet the healing she and I had and the friendship we created is a good memory to hold onto.
Susan, glad you enjoyed my friend. I do so love clam chowder too. ;-)

It is hard to lose those you love. I have just lost a brother who has not yet been laid to rest, so my emotions are quite fragile at the moment.

I feel for you, my friend. Losing a brother or loved one is the hardest thing in life. There are words of comfort which help. But none fill the void left by this person you grew up and developed bonds with. Yet with time, the good memories come as a comfort though for now there is sadness. The loss never leaves but the memories become a comfort as the years pass. The family is all important at this time. I know from experience.
