Opera Diva
Young and ebony She sings opera Down the YMCA hallway Young and far from home My lonely heart needs her But my madness makes me Remote as a polar bear Who lumbers across arctic ice While in the tundra of the night I roam To where she does a coffee shop gig For bread to sing about In these tropically warmed halls Where her voice is a passionate torch In the Denver night

Beautiful. I wonder at the backstory that inspired this, John.

Back at the Denver YMCA, there was a beautiful African American woman who sang opera while walking down the hallway to her room. Back then both men and women lived in the rooms there. Her music was a night at the opera performed in the YMCA. She was an enchantress.

Thank you so much, my friend. I wonder what became of this woman. Though I will never know.

Thank you so much, Michael. I like to think she is singing for a bigger audience now somewhere. Thanks for reading my friend.
