Life moves on, age old way of life changes;
the beautiful snow peaks still look enchanting in spite of the climatic changes.
Here are fragments of changes in life around me in Kathmandu.
Young mothers in jeans after dropping their kids in school getting together in a cafe for a cup of chai and some gossip
never seen before in the valley of Kathmandu .
Tibetan refugees on the street protesting about inhumanity of new ideas of liberation forgetting that, that act itself
is a change in their old ways of life and belief.
A farmer sitting in a cafe borrowing a laptop to write when most of his country men
are yet illiterate.
Life moves on and a moment gone never comes back
So, enjoy the moment of Now.

So many changes in people and their habits in your eternal land, Dip; your final line is important for all of us.

So many changes in people and their habits in your eternal land, Dip; your final line is important for all of us. Rick, I am overwhelmed by the changes that are coming in fast and furiously in the mountains. Yet, many villages faraway from the city are living life torn between so called progress and the old ways. Namaste. - Dip

It is sad to lose the old ways because those of us who have left them behind us yearn to back and visit now and then. Yet, it is the dream of most of us to bring those who live by the old ways to be brought into our modern world. Sadly, we can't have both. Once a community has gone modern. it can never go back.

Better yet, blend the old with the new and take the best of both. Then write poetry to keep the memory of the old ways within reach. I was just thinking about how some of the old ways are better as I was grinding coffee in my antique Enlish cast-iron coffee mill by hand for my percolator. I was also thinking of this poem as I plan to write some more by hand in cursive on a long piece I have been working on for a week. A story of a new character that I am creating for my fantasy novel that has been aging on my hard drive since 2006. I think you are onto something subconsious that many are feeling, Dip.

Thank you Warrior Queen for your kind response. In the city of Kathmandu life is changing fast. But in the villages far away from the city old ways of life and old values of relation with people and nature has not changed. Namaste. Dip

Your poem does what my favorite writing does. These snapshots of real life are the heart and soul of poetry. You have done a great job here my friend
