I forget many words
shared by two young souls
from an European country, but I remember
everything they made me feel.
They had journeyed a long way
and their love for climbing was touching
but what touched me most was their desire
to share simple village life before the climb
We chose a small village of 70 souls
on the foothills of Annapurna range
near a slow meandering river
and they moved there.
The night before they were to start
their climb to the snow peaks
there was an avalanche that flooded the river
and the whole village was wiped out.
The last thing they had told me was
that destiny has brought them
to be in the midst of these majestic mountains
and I will always remember the smile on parting.
How does destiny talks
to souls I wonder!!!
