(What is present is past and future.)
All things must end she said to me,
That is the way that life must be,
What one breaks another can mend
She said to me all things must end,
As feelings darken sun goes down,
Tears hide 'neath late eve's gown,
Unto me answers will not hearken,
Sun goes down as feelings darken,
In great haste all stars come out,
They see a heart filling with doubt,
Wondering if it was all a waste,
All stars come out in great haste,
Through the night our moon goes slow,
It's speaking to me I well I know,
I just can't seem to read it right,
Our moon moves slow through the night,
When dawn comes there is no change,
Life gets too hard to rearrange,
It can't be done when you're all thumbs
There is no change when dawn comes,
After one long year she understood,
Forgiving her she hoped he would,
Finally seeing what she wanted clear,
She understood after one long year,
Reading his note she broke inside,
As she collapsed all teary eyed,
A fractured heart he could not tote,
She broke inside reading his note,
All things must end she'd said to him,
The hurt had made his whole life dim,
He thought it best to just transcend,
She'd said to him all things must end.
