She speaks to me in whispers this night,
Under full haloed moon,
Rustling leaves answer the wind,
Burying my hushed responses to her,
Still she smiles for she has heard me,
Taking my hand we float out the window,
Into the meadow's spotlight,
Every blade bows to her presence,
While wondering who I am,
For I am a stranger here,
Her midnight song soothes the fears,
As it touches flower, grass and tree,
We dance on air,
Sweet notes have lifted us
We hover,
A precious moment to be savoured,
Shared looks of understanding,
Of love,
Of all things out of heart 'n' soul,
Clouds move in overhead to my dismay,
Leaving only darkness,
Still her song continues,
Still we dance,
'til dawn's grey light,
breaks the spell.
