Quiet sleepy afternoon soft and gentle sunlight filtering through the pine trees swaying with the cold breeze. Sitting in a house
built a 100 years back I am filled with memories of powerful men and gracious women;
making fateful political decisions; deliberating on arts and music; philosophy and religion; some rouge's raucous laughter;
women walking out to watch mist floating up from the valley.
The pine trees in the past
witnessed these all but they are gone, like the powerful men the gracious women. Yet memories flood into
the mind of the last living soul of the long line of politicians, musicians, artists and some rogues. The wooden floor creaks
to break the reverie. I watch
the lengthening shadow of the Rhododendron tree across the green lawn. And I realise
that the mountains outlast all.

I love the thoughtful reminisces in this but that close really brings everything into perspective. Fascinating work that I'll be reading again.

Wonderful memories with a wise conclusion, Dip. The Himalayas having risen from the ocean centuries ago have witnessed lots of changes in the Mountains. Changes are coming fast in Nepal. I will post the changes the Himalayas have seen ... Thank you all for giving me the space to write - even though not as eloquently and with rhyme as all of you do. I am grateful to you all. Namaste. - Dip

Namaste, everyone finds a method and style that suits them to their art. Rhyme doesn't fit well for some but they find other ways to get their expression out. Elegance and eloquence appear in your writes more than you credit yourself. We writers are sadly our own worst critics

Beautiful. You capture both the sense of history and the angst of the human condition - the inherent epheremarality of our very nature. It impacts everything we do in life at a very deep level.

No one can one teach a soul to fly and set its course with logical thinking? I believe that all souls are connected like the trees, the earth and the sky in a forest. This, I believe, connects humanity's soul with the world. I write poems without metre and rhyme to connect with your loving soul. -Dip

Dan Dan, Thank you for your kind views. There are moments in my life when the background history of my life comes to show that powerful men and women create history and yet the mountains outlive them all, and as you have very rightly said: "It impacts everything we do in life at a very deep level." Namaste. - Dip
