Icarus loved his mighty wings
His father built, they made him sing;
Some rumors would have him undone...
He did not fly close to the sun.
His father warned him of the wax
Icarus understood the facts;
Flying too high would not be fun...
He did not fly close to the sun.
Icarus had a cute girlfriend
Delightful times, the two would spend;
Life had truly only begun...
He did not fly close to the sun.
Greek tragedy was all the rage
Often false endings, they would stage;
This is how intense tales were spun...
He did not fly close to the sun.
Icarus lived to an old age
He became a sought after sage;
The tall tale tellers, he would shun...
He did not fly close to the sun.

You have a wonderful gift for taking tragic myths and giving them happy endings. This is much better ending for that fable than the original. John

Rick, you make it sound as if the Greeks had their own version of the National Enquirer! Fun tale, my friend!

The verses fly as though they were on the wings. Sensible truth does oft tend to lose out to sensationalism. I like your version better!
