I got one as part of my change when I stopped @ McDonald's a few days ago. It's the first time I've seen one; there were other Presidents $1.00 coins made too. I didn't know that. Duh! CLICK HERE

Even being Canadian, I think that is certainly a new one Joanie. We have a $1 dollar coin. We call it a loonie because of the loon on one side of it.

and then there's a toonie...the $2 coin.....i still don't get why you guys think that a $2.00 bill is phoney...i really don't...
i have a folder that has 1.00 that you can put into it and 2.00 and .25 because there are so many that they have come up with, so...and i have 49 states, and a few territories i'm missing alabama....i think in the quarters...

The Presidential $1 Coin Program (Pub.L. 109–145, 119 Stat. 2664, enacted December 22, 2005), was the release by the United States Mint of $1 coins with engravings of relief portraits of U.S. presidents on the obverse and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse. From 2007 to 2011, presidential $1 coins were minted for circulation in large numbers, resulting in a large stockpile of unused $1 coins. From 2012 to 2016, new coins in the series were minted only for collectors. The program's end The act specifies that for a former president to be honored, they must have been deceased for at least two years before issue. Hence, former presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama were ineligible to have a dollar coin issued in their honor. The series ended in 2016, after honoring Ronald Reagan, the last President who was eligible. Since the program has terminated, producing coins for those presidents not yet honored would require another Act of Congress. Oh yeah, Bama. The two dollar bill. I think such things make a nice keepsake gift for our children and grandchildren.
