My dad was a Pearl Harbor Survivor as I'm sure some of yours was too. So in honor of them all (survivors or not) I am posting this. NATIONAL PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY In 2017, we recognize the 76th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th. National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed across the nation this day in honor of all those who lost their lives serving this nation at Pearl Harbor. There were more than 3,500 Americans who lost their lives or were wounded on that solemn day.
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is also sometimes referred to as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day or Pearl Harbor Day.
HOW TO OBSERVE For the 76th anniversary, organizations across the country are honoring the memory of Pearl Harbor with tributes; survivors are sharing their stories and joining in reunions. Traditionally the Flag of the United States is flown at half-staff until sunset to honor those who lost their lives serving this nation at Pearl Harbor.
It was on August 23rd of 1994 that United States Congress by Pub L 103-308, designated December 7th, of each year, as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Thanks Joanie. That was a sorrowful day in the history of our country. December 7, 1941 the Japanese military launched a surprise attack on the US Naval base at Pearl Harbor. The attack sank or damaged over 14 naval vessels and killed over 2,300 U.S. Military personel.

A sad, sad time in the history of thre world. A civilian couple walks through ruins of the heavily bombed ruins in the city of St. Lo, France, August 1944.
