Autumn's Palette...Soft charcoal and wind, Atop a fire-limned ocean, Swirling bird clouds dancing, Spider webs and bursting milkweed, Cattail seeds tufting on the wind, The world is damp and at the fringes of life, Ghosts haunt the fields and hollows, Bygone Summer days withering away. Everything dies in color, Except only the sky, Awash in endless varietals of grey, Another year dancing to Autumn's Palette. AquarianM By Daniel A. Stafford (C) 11//11/2023

I spent my life around Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. First Lake Ontario where I was born and lived for all my life until we moved out here by Lake Erie 7 years ago. Don't really know the other 3 lakes though. We have spent all our lives in Ontario, Canada by these two great lakes.

I was born in far Southern Wisconsin. My Dad's mom lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the first water I remember playing in was Lake Superior. I worked for nearly 20 years in downtown Chicago, and my wife's family had a house over in the Indiana Dunes. We'd go swimming in Michigan in the late Summer sometimes. Of course I swam in small lakes all over Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan. Autumn 🥮🍁 in that area was always like I just described, when the skies were soft grey, and the land was tawny and aflame. Believe it or not, you lived north of me. Where I live in Ontario is abut the most southern part of Ontario you can get. Toronto, where I grew up, and Mississauga where I raised my children is south of you. These two cities are only divided by a street. Foxy used to find it hard to believe that I lived south of some states all my life, until I sent her a map showing her the deep southern dip between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie - Lake Erie being the most southern. Toronto is near the lowest part of Lake Ontario, and where I live on the shores of Lake Erie is staight across the water from Erie, Pennsylvania - only about 35 miles across the lake between where I live and the shores of Erie. Dan, I love your poem. The autumn solstice spirit glows like a dark red leaf spiraling from a tree. You really have the gift, my friend. There is autumnal magic in your verse that takes me to a place I have never been.

Dan As we are almost at Spring here in my fair city, it is interesting to read a poem about the Autumn but fear not I have spent many days in the very midst of your poem, loved every word of it!!
