Very cool stuff bro (can truly hear them) and yes, their hum is beautiful but I do have to note that I am definitely afraid of them lol..they look like aliens lol! And if I ever do get with a woman again she will have to get one out of the house if one were to get inside because I will be a block away lol! Those and june bugs too, ugh! Glad we don't have june bugs here in Washington..those things are weird with how the bounce around lol..and cicadas...I'll tell you this..when I was married to Sonya and we had a garden out in the back yard at our house, I was working in the garden and I "flicked" a cicada (this was in Topeka, Kansas) to get it off a plant and that thing screeched! (they sound like a banshee when they do that!) and it flew in the air and turned around and started coming right at me! I ran and that thing chased me! Was scary as hell! lol...and when I worked at Joyland Amusement Park in Topeka (my first job, was very young) I was working the bumper cars one day and there was a cicada on the "floor" of the bumper car area and the little kids were scared of it and wanted ME to get rid of it for them and I WAS JUST AS AFRAID OF IT! but I couldn't you know, be afraid of it in front of the little kids because I was older than them of course but do you have any idea the kind of pressure I was under having to get the cicada to go away and look like a "man" to those little kids?! Was terrible! lol...anyway, of course I had to man up for the kids and I did but man...was a horrible situation for me to be in! Haha! Anyway, love your poem! As always, you have us truly hear the beauty (though those things are evil!) of their song And yes, we do have those here in Washington but thankfully no june bugs (shivers) and when I have dated some i have mentioned to "her" that if we were to continue dating she would have to remove cicadas/june bugs should they come inside...hmm..maybe that has something to do with my "dating difficulties?" I wonder if Sandra Bullock would be ok with that?

Thanks for sharing your cicada memories, my friend. My recollections are of their shed skin clinging to trees and of course their hum. I don't recall seeing an actual flying cicada. I can understand your antipathy toward the creatures. Just seeing their husks I can certainly see how they look alien. lol, Glad, you don't have June bugs where you live. Good to be unafraid in your environment. John
