Virus
Like I, a virus
comes and goes around
like some moth at your front door,
at your light on this dark and lovely starlit night.
But not just your light.
You are the light,
my light and I, the virus
flutter about to no avail.
I cannot get past your defenses.
In time, eventually I, the virus
give in and fly away,
fly away to another light that catches the eye.
In the end the results being the same.
This is the life of the virus.
Trying to find the light.
Trying to find the warmth.
Trying to find life.
The virus is simply trying to survive.
And what goes around comes around
as the virus finally does find a way in
through a hole in your screen door.
Now it comes to you.
Now I come to you.
A rolled up newspaper perhaps?.
Maybe the spray?
After all,
a virus can quickly ruin your day.

Michael, I love how you take on the prespective of things and in this case, of the virus. I love the way your writing mind works. I have yet to read anything you have written that I didn't love.

Michael, I love every image in this finely woven poem about the phenomena of the virus and how it finds ways into our space to invade us. The virus is unassailable as you have illustrated so brilliantly. Truly a wonder of this age we live in.

Michael, I love this story you have woven, that so delightfully captures the life of a virus just trying to survive, as does all life forms
