Lady Liberty
On the threshold of Lady Liberty Ellis Island waits for a rebirth of America With the patience of a Polish immigrant Who found sea legs he called freedom shoes That made the ship a road across the ocean He walked daily from bow to stern To keep in shape for the job he lined up Of delivering all the news that was fit to print But he had heard that boats were turned back From what once was a harbor But his movable highway Is a rainbow path

Missing you today, John. Hope you are OK. I know you were concerned for your family, and I am concerned for you. I know it is possible you have no power. Stay safe, my friend.

Howdy there Foxy, I posted the latest in your chit-chat forum. Baton Rouge was spared the worst. The eye deviating from its course which had been directed at our city. So we got fifty mile an hour winds, tropical storm level instead of the predicated cat 2 hurricane. I got my power back this afternoon. All is well my dear friend.

So glad it worked out that way, John. My heart goes out to those so seriously affected, but I sure am glad you are not one of them. In the beginning, we thought it would head inland toward us, and bring us torrential rain and strong winds, but it made that turn to the east very quickly, and missed us completely. We really needed a good rain, but not the flooding. Thanks for checking in so quickly. I apprciate that.

My late wife's son and his family live in New Orleans. They stayed there for the storm. As it was approaching he did videos of his little daughter giving a weather report until the wind got too strong. I haven't seen anything of them since then. They are without power. Hope they find a place with power. I am feeling for them. His children must be suffering as well as his wife and him.

My heart is there with them, John. They have no lights, power, sanitation, no clean water to drink, no way to get their money from banks that don't work. For a long time, they will have to be somewhere near where Red Cross and other first responders can help them with food, water, and their most basic needs. I will keep them all in my prayers.

Just found out some friends of theirs are letting them stay with them in a place with power near New Orleans. For a while, he said it was really hard. They had to wait in long lines for gas for their generator. They hear stories of how rough it has been from others who stayed for the storm. But now they are close enough to their house to keep an eye out on it and wait for the electricity to come back on but living in a place with AC

They are staying near the beach in Mississippi. They celebrated his nine-year-old daughter's birthday there.

It is nice they have something to celebrate during this trying time, John. For some....it is going to be hard to find a reason for celebration. Wishing you a great day, John.
