Tree Lover
Walking memory lane On land, her feet trod In a place without crop circles Where soybeans filled the rows In a horticulturist paradise But today the air held a fragrance Of roses in the Garden of Eden But her soul filled the whole sky With crystal blue joy We mere mortals gathered around To remember her earthly incarnation Her daughter channeled her mother’s spirit In a sun-worshipping dance of inner-directed motion The sons spoke of her courage Tears sprinkled the ground like holy water To nourish grass And the ministress showered tree roots In clouds of ashes From a friend of the trees In whose shade she found rest

What a beautiful tribute to your lady who waits for you at the edge of eternity. So good you can share your sorrow with her children.

Gracias mi amiga. I look forward to seeing her again. The children cried and we embraced. It was sad but full of love. I wish she could have lived many more years. Her daughter said that Marsha signed her own death certificate so her children wouldn't have to. And her daughter spoke of me and the happy years her mother had with me and how we stayed close friends even after our separation during her eulogy.

Thank you so much, Rick! The ending when the woman minister spread her ashes on tree roots was a perfect way to close the old chapter and open the new one for my former wife. Thank you, my friend, for your wonderful words, "mystical tribute." My former wife had a mystical spirituality.

Beautiful, elegant, and heart-warming. You are always an eloquent poet, John. However, here you are a step above.

Dan, much gratitude for describing my poetry as eloquent. Even more thanks for saying this was a step above. This is one of those life-changing events. Good to know i captured it in poetry for me and others to remember.
Michael, love knowing that I am a beautiful soul in my words. I appreciate that very much.
