Yes, after they closed the highways, and I was on it. It was one of the worse winter storms that year. I'm glad the highway was empty, drove right down the centre and you couldn't stop, because we would have gotten stuck. The vehicle was ploughing the road with its momentum.

Have you ever had a bird feeder?

The whole back deck used to be full of bird feeders (7 of them), but the birds were messy and dropped a lot of seed which attracted mice too much, so now we only have one suet bird feeder out in winter only. There is plenty of other food for the birds and other wild life all around here through the warmer months.

Have you ever been close up to a coyote?
|
|
|
Post by Catlady2710 on May 25, 2024 10:52:30 GMT -6
Relatively close - there was one on our property, but then we are in the country. We were close enough to see him when he took off, but still a distance off. In the country they are not used to people and like to avoid them. My son came into the closest contact though. He was out in the hot tub on the back deck late one night when he heard something behind the raised cover. He got out to look and came face-to-face with a coyote. Well, as soon as the coyote saw him, it took off (did I mention my son is 6'4" tall). My son decided that his time in the hot tub was over for the night, closed it up and came into the house.
Around here the pack goes in cycles of migration. You might not see them for a while and then you start hearing them in the night for about a week befoer they are off to another area.

Yes, I made Duck L'Orange for hubby (while we were still dating) and my mother before we got married. I had never made this before and was amazed at all the times I had to empty the fat from the cooling vessel, but everyone loved it when it was done.
There was so much work involved that I never made it again. Hubby accuses me of false representation before our marriage. I simply remind him that that was during our first year of dating, and he never proposed until after 3 years of dating, so he had plenty of time to realized that I would never make that again, nevermind all the times I actually said that it wasn't something I would cook again. I literally had to empty out that roasting pot 3 times, and it was a big roasting pan.
I will admit, though, that it did taste amazing!
