LOL - I had to laugh at the question. Years ago I used to run a legitimate Cattery - Government license and all. I bred Ragdolls. It was a small cattery, but the two females I had would not give birth unless I was there with them. I have even saved one kitten's life. Her birth sac was very small - less than a third of the size of her siblings' sacs and the mother ignored the sac as she still had more kittens to birth. I picked up the sac and felt something moving. I put it under the mother's noise, and she realized that the kitten was alive and quickly opened the sac and started washing her down. Well, that kitten was just as strong as the other kittens from the very start, though only about a third or less of their sizes. But by the time she was one month old, she was bigger than most of her siblings and went on to live a very happy life with a retired couple. They loved her birth story and always considered her special. To tell the truth, I think that somewhere towards the end of the pregnancy, her sac wasn't getting the same nutrition as the other kittens' sacs. Other than her small size, she was quite healthy and quickly made up the difference in size. Have you ever helped a cat give birth?

Wow, that is very cool, and wonderful and amazing, I have a great deal of respect for people who help animals and care for them. Thank you for sharing that amazing story about that little kitty.
The neighbour I was helping who is now forced into moving, she rescues cats, and feeds all the strays in town. There is a barn in the middle of town, and all the feral cats live there, she caught them, and with a cat rescue program with the vet they were spayed, Some of the less feral ones, the younger ones were fostered, and adopted all the others were release again, and she goes there every day, storm or no storm to feed them.
When she moves, which will be out of town, there will be no one to feed them. (that is my understanding at this moment, I can help, but I can't do it everyday).
She was getting food from the cat rescue, but even the feral cats will not eat the no name yellow brand food from No frills, or other no name brands from other companies. (that is pretty bad cat food if even feral cats won't eat it).
So she is buying cat food for them, and she is on disability.

She sounds like a lovely, caring person. It's too bad they are forcing her to move.
No, but it sounds like something I would watch. Hubby and I don't have regular TV. We have a lot of video series and NetFlix, as well as the freebies. We did have regular TV, but they were charging too much for the satellite signal so we decided to get rid of it along with our land phone.

No, but almost did when we visited Nova Scoria, Cape Breton (I know that Cape Breton is part of N.S, but it deserves its own mention) and New Brunswick. It was our retirement trip - we went to the foot of Maine in the States and made our way up to New Brunswick. We took a whole month of ust site seeing. We had planned on also visiting Newfoundland, but decided against it much to our later wish that we had.
Have you ever wished to live in a warmer climate?

Wow that sounds like an amazing trip! I have never been to Newfoundland either, but hope to one day. My mum is from Nova Scotia, but she has been gone for decades. The rest of my family other then my brother live in New Brunswick, my brother lives in North Carolina -US. Actually he is supposed to be driving up to New Brunswick this spring, and I'm supposed to drive to New Brunswick as well for a family get together. I'm not sure, with the kitties medicine, the one kitty has to take medicine 6 times a day, and there is no one I really know who would care for him, like I do. So its a wait and see.
No, I love Ontario summers, and in many ways Ontario is a warmer climate then the Maritimes. I like the winters because they keep the poisonous bugs down south.

Yes, and it was a disaster, not knowing any better, (it was in high school.) at recess time, in front of his friends I asked him about it. He avoided me for the rest of the year. It started by him sending me a note, if I had waited until he was a alone, I think it would have been different.
Ever you ever had a strawberry garden?

|
|
Post by Catlady2710 on Feb 5, 2024 12:24:17 GMT -6
I did have a strawberry garden at my old house but the birds kept eating them as soon as they were ripe. The would be green one day and then gone the next. So I started a raspberry garden (Heritage ever-bearing raspberry - the kind they sell in stores) at the old house - the thorns kept those birds away for the most part. After moving here, I missed them so much that I started a new Heritage raspberry garden two years ago. This year will be the thrid year for the raspberries here . We were at the old house for 36 years and now have been here 7 1/2 years. Have you ever gone to a barn dance?
