Childhood







A tree bridges the stream

where we used to play.

Where we all would run wild

letting our imaginations take us over

each day.



Yes, that tree is still there

lying the same all these years.

It has not changed much.

Only we are the ones who have grown.

Who have changed.

Each and every one of us now,

different.



I wonder why I even came back here.

To sit on this fallen tree and try to capture a ghost.

To try to bring back the magic of what was once

and forever will be freedom that I enjoyed most.



Those were the times!

Those are the times that children need to savor.

We want to grow up so fast.

It is not until we do that we find life

but life has now changed and has lost its sweet flavor.



This time, sitting here, it rings of haunts

that I must not forget but now store.

There is no going back but life also promises

sweet moments and memories if we allow for it to

in present years and ahead with more to come.



Treasure exists at every age.

Still, children need to enjoy childhood

because that is truly the moment of magic and freedom

to which no other moment in life will ever compare.
