His Only Need
He is restless as thunder pounds its.way across an April sky, stands at the doorway to check on her, sees the outline of her body in stark flashes of blue-white light, she's his sleeping beauty, through the downpour. He glances to the wall of her small room, to the Jesus painting on velvet he'd bought in Mexico many years back, it now hangs above her bed for protection, anything to keep the darkness from falling.
She is his only need.
He sinks down into the old easy chair, stares outside through paned double doors to the Russian olive tree they planted, its blooms braced stubborn against rage of rain, now watches the storm ebb and slow.. to just drip-drops, puddles of after thoughts... a grateful sigh escapes his throat, another fresh new morning, another Spring.
She is his only need

Incredible writing as always with you Sky. Dynamic imagery and energy such as your style It's good to read you again. I don't want to say too much yet because I don't want to ruin anything for future readers but I will say (in my interpretation anyway) that I get a positive message in this and I'll leave it at that for now. Beautiful in its symplicity. True love survives the years, good and bad.

Sky, this is the road to love illustrated with art and imagery that sings to my soul. I loved the path this poem showed me. Adore how you wrote this exploring the man's emotions toward his beloved. Indeed this reminds me of my grandparent's love. So deep like a sigh in the wind that the outside observer might miss the subtleties whose nuances you paint with strokes of genius here.
