Metaphorical Beach
Sometimes we follow the footprints of another
while all the while we make our own
for others to follow if they so choose.
Sometimes the waves of life come washing in
and we have to begin once more.
When we so choose to continue our journey
we can again follow another
if one's path is before us
or we can start fresh,
fresh with the opportunity
those waves have given.
We can be the ones to make the first impressions.
It is this way for us all.
We all stand on this metaphorical beach
with those waves rolling in, sometimes crashing.
Paths previously made lie ahead of us.
We can follow or we can let the waves wash them away
allowing for each and every one of us to be a follower,
a leader or perhaps even both.
Even if we are not aware of doing so.
Each step we take,
our toes sinking into the sand,
is in itself its very own metaphor.
Metaphorically speaking.
We stand on this beach in unison,
while at the same time we also stand
on our very own individual beach.
We take steps.
We follow while we also lead
and this is a line of succession.
Come along,
the tide will soon be rolling in.
Unless perhaps you wish to remain a little longer
to appreciate the view and start fresh?
