A little faith can go a long way, a little love makes it go that much further.

That is so sadly beautiful, Rick. I have known young people with that kind of background and I know they can change but it takes time. They do not know what it is like to live in an environment of kind and unconditional love. What a child doesn't receive he can seldom later give. They so desperately need that unconditional love.

I have one of those young women in my own family who grew up in a dysfunctional family. She truly did not know how to fit into a family so close knit as mine is. She did not interact with her own children in the way we do. Her husband (my family) has carried on our family traditions with them and over the years she is changing. A good example is the fact that she and her siblings have never gone trick or treating. Not for any religious reasons. It just was not important in her family. Most holidays weren't. they pretty much were not for children. They were for the grownups to sit around and get drunk. We are so happy she is changing and happy that their children have had his influence so far as showing them unconditional love. She is coming around and we love her dearly and unconditionally. |
