The Old Stories... i cant tell now if the old stories were wilder, Less inhibited, More macabre, Or just less tainted by "correctness." All the lessons buried, All the warnings of powers larger than ourselves, Was it just because the forest and jungle laws were closer, Or is it because we hid in concrete and dead wood? Tooth and fang are going extinct, A mistake, Because personal extinction may be more remote, Yet we are animals too. True, Fairness is a virtue, Yet so is resilience, Even more so nature. Watch the seasons dance, Tell me what is truth, What is myth, What is a lie? AquarianM By: Daniel A. Stafford © 10/26/2019

I believe the old myths and legends are far more believable than stated 'truths' these days ... the world is upside down.
Good writing, Dan.

Thank you, Rick. I think there are some underlying truths embedded in mythology as parable and metaphor. Those stories are a lot like ancient forms of poetry.

There has to be a hint of truth in everything told or else the idea to tell it would never come up. ?? Sumpin like that anyway Really cool read here Dan, you're still on fire. Dan, you're on fire! Make ya look?

I prefer the old stories with their warnings to the new lies that slander the sacred halls of truth. This write was like a light tap into some of my own thoughts these days.

It seems that with the passage of decades the dark magic which taught us to be cautious has faded from the spotlight. I recall the turning angel in a graveyard in my hometown of Natchez was talked about all over. And we played D&D with a sense of reality. Now, the myths have gone by the wayside perhaps never to resurface again. Thank you for sharing this, my friend. Brought back memories.

Too many screens and too little quiet reflection. Dan
