Melodic Nostalgia...
Sometimes they come to me, An ear-worm in a box frame of faded memory, Playing over and over in my head, Bringing me to the haunting days of youth, An iridescent shimmer tinged with yellowed age, Seen through misty rose-colored glasses.
I wonder who will sing these songs in ages to come, As snippets slip from my lips in moments of early-morning reverie.
I thought many were forgotten, Now I know there are hidden corners in my head, Treasure boxes faded with time, Priceless and ephemeral.
There are rose gardens tucked away in Southwestern ghost towns, Rose rustlers occasionally visit for lost treasures, Forgotten flowers from long ago.
Are we all the rose rustlers of musical history?
Break the burning silence of sunrise, Perhaps you'll know, Especially if the tune is light and easy to carry.

True - souls sing wherever they are in whatever language seeing the beginning of a new day. Touched me deeply. Namaste

Dan, this carried me along on a magic carpet ride which hypnotized and brought joy. The nostalgia-filled me as your scenes and storytelling took me along. Truly art in poetry.

~Dan~ I love this!!! You are so right when you say we have those treasures tucked away in our mind...So many times something will be said or I will see something and it brings back a song from my younger days that I had almost forgot about! Then it all comes back to me and I sing a few lines and sometimes other memories will join in. I'll remember when I first heard it, if it was popular with my friends, did I dance to it? All kind of fun things start coming back. I have always loved music...My parents instilled that in me as I grew up and I did the same for my kids. I always introduced them to all genres of music ~ Course they might know more of the 70's & 80's rock than they do classical! ha ha Thanks for sharing this...Just reading it brought back some good memories ~ Thanks for that Dan Huggerz Alana

Oh Yes..I can relate also, so many favorites, holding so many memories good & bad I can even remember what tune was playing on the car-radio when I got my drivers licence lol. first Real date, kiss, songs connected with those sad times in life as well. You've opened the flood-gates with this one Dan. And..have you noticed how some of those great oldies are constantly used in commercials.. they can't seem to come up with something new, & kids who've never heard the tune before are Still attracted to it, a Classic..is always a Classic I guess. Nice job with this, it will have me reflecting a good long while Sky~
