It's in the way that your eyes lock with mine for a while.
A moment where I find I cannot hide a smile.
A time of invincibility. I find that there is no way
for anything to dull the brightness of my day.
And I hold that with me the entire day through
till tomorrow brings promise of once more with you.
Your presence restores me once more and I'm strong.
Like some kind of addict for you I so long.
With you I can look at myself in the mirror
and see past the "Why's?," the "What If's?" so much clearer.
With you I am visible with no reason to hide,
to wake in the morning and not wish I had died.
It's in the way I'm acknowledged, in the way that you care.
A moment of just knowing that someone is there.
A time of knowing that yes, I must do this on my own
but in knowing "on my own" doesn't mean all alone.
And that gives me a high, a rush to go kick some ass.
To shatter the bullshit, to break through the glass.
It's only natural to want someone, that occasional lean.
That's how much I find to me you will always mean.
It's a dream and it always will be but it gets me by.
That fictional "you" I'll never find though I try.
